How to Create Your First Guide
Creating your first Navvi guide takes less than 5 minutes. This step-by-step walkthrough will have you publishing professional visual navigation guides in no time.
What you'll need
- A smartphone with camera (or existing photos/video)
- Access to the location you want to guide people to
- About 5 minutes of time
Step 1: Set Your Location
Start by visiting navvi.me and clicking "Create Your First Guide".
- Find your entrance: Use the interactive map to locate the main entrance where people should arrive first (like a building entrance, event gate, or parking area).
- Drop the pin: Click exactly where people should arrive via GPS navigation. This is your handoff point from Google/Apple Maps to your visual guide.
- Enter destination name: Write what people are looking for (e.g., "Apartment 3B", "Registration Booth", "Conference Room C").
💡 Pro tip: Choose the most obvious arrival point, even if it's not the closest to your final destination. People can easily follow visual steps, but they need a clear starting point.
Step 2: Create Your Visual Guide
Now for the fun part - creating the visual journey from your pin to the exact destination.
Option A: Photo Guide (Recommended for beginners)
- Take 3-6 photos: Start from your pin location and photograph key decision points along the route.
- Upload photos: Drag and drop or click to upload your images.
- Add captions: Write helpful directions for each photo (e.g., "Enter through the glass doors", "Turn left at the elevator").
- Reorder if needed: Drag photos to arrange them in the correct sequence.
Option B: Video Guide
- Record walkthrough: Film yourself walking the route from pin to destination (any phone orientation works).
- Upload video: Upload your recording to Navvi.
- Add text overlays: Click along the timeline to add helpful text at specific moments in the video.
Step 3: Preview Your Guide
Before publishing, see exactly what your visitors will experience:
- Click "Preview Guide": This shows you the complete viewer experience.
- Test the journey: Go through each step as if you're a first-time visitor.
- Check for clarity: Make sure directions are clear and photos/video are helpful.
- Make adjustments: Edit captions, reorder steps, or upload different media if needed.
Step 4: Publish & Share
When you're happy with your guide, it's time to make it live:
- Click "Pay & Publish": You only pay when your guide is ready to share.
- Create account (if needed): Quick signup with email and password.
- Choose duration: Select how long you want your guide to stay live (30 days to 5 years).
- Complete payment: Secure checkout starting at $25 USD for 30 days.
- Get your link: Receive a unique URL (like navvi.me/g/x7k9m2p8) and QR code to share.
🎉 Congratulations!
Your guide is now live and can be shared with anyone. They don't need to download an app or create an account - just click your link and follow the visual steps.
